From Bakewell, Derbyshire we head to London town for our latest interior project – The Eye Place, Belsize. The brief this time was to instil a sense of old school Sherlock for opticians brand The Eye Place.

The components for the shop fit itself were all made off-site in Sheffield, then transported to London for final fitting. All the cabinetry has been hand finished from reclaimed timber, with key pieces of lighting sourced opposite The Chimney House at Kelham Island from the former Miba Tyzack steel factory. Alex, the client, prides himself of ensuring his patients and customers have the most advanced eye testing equipment at their disposal. Behind the reclaim, hides the super high tech, Optomap and MPod eye testing units. The sum total of all this we call Modern heritage, and an example of this at it’s finest.

See The Eye Place project overview for more information.

The brief was to design a space that would echo the new era of Planet X & On One. We were able to create a stunning visual by suspending the frames & bikes in various ways throughout the showroom which clearly displays to customers the wide array of bikes available.

Here’s a fresh photo of The Circle, a client that grabbed at the chance use design to add value and creativity to their existing offering in Sheffield. Here is a great close up of the main glass partition in reception, which was one of the major interior elements we specified and project managed during installation. The vinyl can be easily replaced at any time with even bolder and braver marketing campaigns, urban art or simple yet meaningful messages to reinforce a brand ethos. Our favourite feature aside from the bold colours is the giant cut out, a perfect balance between functionality, aesthetics and brand implementation.

The advancement of one of Sheffield’s most acclaimed restaurants meant their second unit being designed by 93ft. Using an exquisite palate of traditional Italian sentiment through bespoke cabinets and handmade furniture with sweeping parquet flooring and architectural lighting brings a dynamic backdrop to the award winning menu. Different areas of the split level restaurant includes a deli, a galley kitchen, cocktail lounge, outside terrace on two levels, a bakery and patisserie.

Bringing a little bit of Knightsbridge to the Peak District National Park was our goal. Reflecting our clients sophisticated personality was key. We designed and made bespoke cabinetry with high end ‘Gucci’ style display cases and incorporated light solutions which gave dual purpose of illuminating the store as well as providing alternative signage. Using reflective surfaces which concealed crafty storage solutions but which gave the product enough simplicity for the frames to up-sell themselves was one of the techniques we used to maximise space. Design, product source and project management… all covered.

Moving towards a boutique brand with a unassuming quality appeal was the brief for The Eye Place to position our client as a bespoke, high quality highly personal Opticians. Mood and style were critical to reach new audiences and to move into a super league of optometrists reflecting the investment in cutting edge tech. Based in Bakewell, Derbyshire meant inspiration for a cool cosmopolitan brand was paramount but one that was at the same time down to earth and aware of every facet of the target audience. Over the past 18 months we have developed a logo, stationary, window displays, brochures, a website and a wide selection of printed promotional media.
